What this quote means is that the only thing that can beat fear is hope. Some people do things they fear because they think something bad will happen. The best thing you can do is have HOPE, everything will be fine and just do your best one whatever it is. An example of this quote can be when you are about to take your drivers test. When your doing you test you might be shy, nervous, and scared, you might also think something bad will happen. Some of it wont happen when you have Hope.
